I can't join chat.

I have been trying for a while to join the chat on lordkat.com, but I cannot. I have no idea how to join the chat. I have read everything I can find, but nothing seems to explain what I should do. This is really frustrating.

What do I have to do to join a chat room?

All it says is "Connecting to GeekShed, Please Wait..." but nothing ever happens. The login window reappears almost immediately.

I still need help. No matter what I do I cannot get past the login screen. What should I do?

well we assume you are doing this from your web browser ???

with that assumption you may have anti virus, or firewall that is blocking IRC (port 6667) by default.
This common with kaspersky antivirus, mcafee antivirus, Norton internet security, and AVG with internet security.

Check your firewall settings to see if IRC is blocked and/or allow it.

if its a firewall blocking it , generally you wont even be able to connect using port 6667. you can test that by doing
telnet irc.geekshed.net 6667 (enter)
if no firewall blockage you will get text showing the geekshed message of the day and asking your to login or that your nickname is not registed. If telnet just hangs or does nothing, then you do have it blocked. You can exit telnet by just closing the telnet window.
